We're expecting rain for several days straight. Since by morning the rain was hadn't done much more than spit a little, I went next door to walk the two labs down to the creek for a swim before the mud set in. The yellow lab raced ahead to take the plunge. The chocolate lab, who doesn't listen at all, has to be kept on a lead for most of the time. Even so, he has to be tracked down when the time comes to return.
Today, the yellow lab lost her stick and dove into the water for it. She couldn't find it, so settle for a large rock instead. Undaunted, she carried it back proudly. It was heavy and unwieldly so that a couple of time she couldn't pick it up from the ground when she dropped it. She whined piteously about it, and I went back and helped her.
We passed some horses, who came over to check on us as we went by. The horses did not seem to be only curious the way the sheep and cows are when you go by. The horses seem to be coming over to have a good look so they can pass judgment on you.
Had a pretty aimless afternoon. Took photos of flowers in the rain. Made some indifferent biscuits. Drove into Masterton in the evening to pick up a new resident: Sophie Senty from France.
